About the Role

Sklar is looking for a Director of Operations to take ownership of the day-to-day systems that keep Sklar Bikes running smoothly and to consistently build new systems as we grow.

This team member will be responsible for ensuring operations, fulfillment, and communication are efficient and reliable. They will identify opportunities for improvement, create structure where it’s needed, and implement tools that help the business run more effectively.

The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and loves creating order out of complexity. You’ll work closely with Adam (the founder) to manage production, fulfillment, vendor relationships, and general business operations, with a strong focus on designing and refining the systems that tie it all together.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across production (complete bicycles assemblies and some parts of component and frame manufacturing), order fulfillment, and e-commerce.
  • Build and improve systems for order tracking, inventory management, and purchasing.
  • Implement new tools and processes to streamline operations as the business grows.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing partners and suppliers to maintain clear timelines and quality.
  • Track and report key operational metrics, including production schedules and inventory levels.
  • Oversee shipping and logistics, including international freight and customer order fulfillment.
  • Manage and support part-time staff and contractors.
  • Ensure workspace and office organization, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Support budgeting and financial tracking related to operations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in operations, logistics, or production management (experience in a small business, importing or manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and improve operational systems and processes. This is just a fancy way of saying be super organized and help everyone else stay organized too.
  • Familiarity with management and productivity tools such as Asana,, Notion or similar software,  and enthusiasm for using and refining these systems.
  • Experience with Shopify, QuickBooks, and inventory management tools.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment and occasionally lifting or moving boxes
  • Creative problem solver who takes initiative and enjoys working independently.
  • Interest in bicycles or the outdoor industry is a plus, but very much not required.

Compensation

  • Annual salary, commensurate with experience $70-100k
  • Opportunity for growth and leadership within a creative, values-driven company.
  • On-site position based in San Francisco with some flexibility.
