The Tall Tale is our trail bike. Picture a mountain bike as capable as your full suspension with the low-maintenance lifestyle of a hardtail and that is what you get. Designed around a 140mm fork, the Tall Tale shines for so much of the MTBing we do where you slog up a fire road to fly down techy, chunky, flowy, fun singletrack.

Size Large, 765mm saddle height for 5'11" rider

This particular Tall Tale is the first one in our new "Gneiss" color to leave the shop. Gneiss, for those not in the know, is a type of metamorphic rock that doesn't look too different from this color, and it is pronounced the same as "Nice." How nice is that?

Anyway, this build is the Eagle 90 build kit. We love Eagle 90 because it is the same 1x12 shifting we have known and loved for years with SRAM's direct mount, aka full mount, system. Meaning the derailleur bolts directly to the frame, no hanger needed. The Tall Tale uses UDH dropouts, short for "Universal Derailleur Hanger",  which means it is compatible with this system or any other derailleur system you would like to throw at it.

While most of SRAM's new full mount systems are electronic and wireless, Eagle 90 boasts mechanical shifting, which means no charging batteries and easy, intuitive adjustment on the fly.

For the cockpit we are running PNW Components parts these days. PNW is proving to be a great partner, and as we scale up with more completes heading out the door, having parts reliably available means everything. Also, they make great stuff and are really nice people. What's not to love there?

This build turned out sweet and I can't wait for Cody to get it out on the trails in Idaho where this bike is heading!

Hi Adam, Nicholas, and the rest of the team!

I just wanted to say that I am beyond stoked to receive my new Sklar Tall Tale in a few days! Thanks for getting it out the door early! I’m also flattered to be receiving the first Gneiss (and very NICE!) Tall Tale in this new color and also to be part of this recent blog post! I haven’t ridden one of your bikes before, but you come highly recommended by friends and your following and oh man am I looking forward to hitting some trails on this new rig!

I’ve got an interesting and unique build-out lined up for this bike and I’d love to share some photos once it’s complete! For all those potential customers out there know that the dialogue back and forth, the professionalism, the small shop feel, the purchase process, and the kindness from the crew at Sklar Bikes has been really quite impressive! If you’re considering, you should probably just do it!

Cheers!

I don’t see how a hardtail can be more perfect. The proportions of everything on that side view just speaks volumes. Such a stunning balance!
