Dawg Size Increaser

Dawg Size Increaser

69 miles and 10,000 feet of vert. That's what enticed me to the Dawg Size Increaser. I've been doing longer routes on my SuperSomething gravel bike and feeling pretty capable of accomplishing some hefty mileage, but most of it is in my own backyard. The Dawg Size Increaser circumnavigates Mt. Diablo counterclockwise, so it's all new territory to me. Definitely worth blocking off a full Saturday and letting my inner dawg run free.

The Geysers: Healdsburg to Cloverdale and Back on My SuperSomething

The Geysers: Healdsburg to Cloverdale and Back on My SuperSomething

Known to locals as simply The Geysers, this remote road climbs up 3500 feet along Big Sulphur Creek up to Geyser Peak, the site of the largest geothermal power facility on the planet. At the base of the climb there's a sign that says ROUGH ROAD, and I thought, "That's a pretty good description for my SuperSomething – a 'rough road' bike." Outfitted with 700x50 tires, my XL SuperSomething is set up for off-road adventures, but it still feels fast and floats like a hovercraft over the broken and dilapidated road and gravel surfaces throughout rural Sonoma County.

Tall Tale Bikepacking on Catalina Island

Tall Tale Bikepacking on Catalina Island

We recently received an email update from Dan, a Sklar customer who took his Tall Tale on a bikepacking trip to Catalina Island with a few pals. The photos enclosed within Dan's email made us smile ear-to-ear. We have wanted to check out Catalina Island for a while now, so we asked Dan if he'd share a few words about his adventure. Take a look...

Ride Report: Oat Hill Overnighter

Last Saturday, I took my Sklar PBJ out on an overnighter in Napa County. I met with Curtis and Andrew at Wappo Park, next to the St. Helena police department, where we left our vehicles behind around noon and climbed our way up Old Howell Mountain Road into the weird little town of Angwin.

A San Francisco Bike Weekend

A San Francisco Bike Weekend

I am still buzzing from a really fun bike-filled weekend here in San Francisco. It all started on Thursday with a trip to Fairfax for the Appetite Seminar. I was told that this year was the 50th anniversary of the Thanksgiving day ride that goes from town up Pine Mountain and back down. This year we opted to take the Tamarancho flow trail down which was a real treat and honestly so, so fun on my rigid singlespeed PBJ. That bike is such a capable mountain bike with just the right amount of flex. I love it so much.
