Inspired by the super-light one-piece racks that Adam would weld himself, these racks are as simple as it gets while still maintaining a whole lot of strength and usability thanks to their clever 4130 chromoly construction.

These rear racks are intended for use with lightweight strap-on panniers and dry bags. We like the panniers from Bags by Bird, San Util designs and more. These super light bags use simple straps instead of plastic hardware that rattles or comes loose which means they are both lighter and more functional for dirt road and singletrack bike packing and touring.

The top of the rack is the perfect place to strap your sleeping pad or ski strap a dry bag. The side cargo loops also work great for a dry bag or strap on a bottle for extending your water carrying capacity.

The Sklar rear rack is designed to pair perfectly with all Sklar frames which have slightly higher rack mounts to avoid interference with disc brakes and create a smaller triangle for a stronger, sturdier support system. The racks can also be used with many other frames that share this trait, please see the drawings for detailed dimensions and compare to your non-Sklar frame before purchasing.
