My PBJ arrived in great condition. I had it out of the box the first day and within three
days I had it headed with me to Montana to ride along the upper portion of the divide. The bike has performed beyond my hopes. I was actually amazed at how my handling skills had improved since the last time I was here, but I realize now it’s actually the bicycle. Initially, I had some trouble getting the low limit adjusted on the GX derailer, but once I got it into whitefish, it turned out the hanger was slightly bent. After that, this SRAM GX mech has performed perfectly! And I do mean perfectly! I had heard some negative reviews on the SRAM DB8’s, but I have no idea what they were talking about. The PBJ has made this the best trip I’ve ever had here, and I’m only three weeks into it. I had some initial trepidation about spending so much money on a bicycle that I had never actually ridden. I’m just so pleased that I trusted Adam with these components of this build list. I took a leap of faith and it really turned out well. The frame and components really do come together well and I just couldn’t be happier.
Almost perfect. I love the way it rides and haven’t touched three of my other regular bikes - a surly, a custom build (but old), and my Chameleon - since. I’ve done gravel and local singletrack so far and taking it to Pisgah in a couple weeks. Only gripe is yall took all the measurements but the stock 35mm stem was not right for my reach, I have a 70mm Boxcar on there now and digging it. Thanks yall!
Never have I ever rode a perfect bike as I have since getting my PBJ Sklar. Rides like a dream, rolls over everything, comfy as hell and fun times 1000. It also looks so clean, even when you get it dirty.
Highly recommend. Everyone at Sklar is awesome and very helpful.
This bike is beautiful! I can’t stop staring at it. I wanted a bike for bike packing and it had everything I wanted, plenty of mounts, clearance for large tires, and compatible with 100-120mm suspension fork. I like that it comes with standard dropouts or can be switched to udh or single speed.
The ride feel is more mountain bike than touring which makes it really fun to ride when not loaded, which is most of the time. I’ve taken it on some blue trails and I was nicely surprised how good and fun it was descending on a rigid fork. It is very comfortable bike and I felt like I could pedal all day on it, which is a good thing for long bike packing adventures. Exactly what I wanted.
Nick and Adam were super responsive and I’m blown away with built quality. I’m looking forward to riding the PBJ for the rest of my life.
