Ryan's Performance Basket Jammer: PBJ All Terrain Bike
Performance Basket Jammers have landed and the complete builds are starting to leave the shop! Here's Ryan's PBJ; it's a nice one.
Our complete builds are hand assembled, one at a time, here in California. There are a few reasons for that. First off, it allows us to tune in each build to the customer. After you place a complete order, we reach out to get some fit numbers so your bike is built and arrives with the right size stem, steerer tube cut to the right length, and pretty much ready to roll right out of the box. This takes a lot of extra effort, but it's a big part of what we offer on our premium complete builds. It also keeps things lean for us, which is very helpful as we scale up Sklar. I am hoping in the next year or two to offer a factory complete, assembled in Taiwan, that could come in at a really nice price point. Paying for all those parts at once is a lot of cash up front and we have to be really careful about how we spend right now as I build out this tiny little bike company, but we’ll get there! Anyway, that's a whole can of worms. Let's talk about this ATB.
Ryan’s PBJ is built around a size Medium steel frame and fork in beautiful and subtle Moss Grey. It features a nice X01 drivetrain, White Industries cranks, and of course our PBJ handlebar which was designed to perfectly complement this frameset. We’ve also got Paul Components Klamper brakes on there – the best mechanical disc brakes you can buy, made just up the road in Chico, California. This is pretty much exactly how I build my own bike up for bikepacking/bike touring and all around-ering. With all mechanical components, it's super field-serviceable and so low maintenance.
We are offering all of the PBJ complete bikes with a dropper post. I love seeing all the different ways the production bikes get built up and I know there is a very solid use case for a non-dropper PBJ but I have seen the look in people’s eyes when they realize how capable a rigid MTB with a dropper post can be. I think it turns this bike from something fun to fart around on to an actually seriously capable mountain bike that happens to have a rigid fork, so if you were on the fence about putting a dropper on your PBJ I would 100% recommend it, you won’t regret it!
We are playing catch-up as we work through the complete builds on the PBJs so we are about 5 weeks out right now but we should be back down to our regular 3 week lead time pretty soon. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We love to hear what you are thinking about in regards to the frames and bikes in general.

OK, have a great weekend!
